Portugal Holds the 5th Position in the Strongest Passport in the World

Portugal ranks in 5th place in the Henley Passport Index. This index measures the freedom to travel worldwide without a need for a Visa. A Portuguese passport grants visa-free access to 187 countries worldwide, in other words, Portuguese have the world at their fingertips. Having the right to travel freely in the world is certainly a privilege that only a few can appreciate.


This 5th place is shared since other countries have free access to 187 countries too, there are Belgium, Czechia, Malta, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland.


The winner is Singapore with an astonishing 193 countries with visa-free access. This index is updated in real-time to have accurate data and be a valuable source of information. This data aligns with IATA (International Air Transport Association).


This is proof that Portugal is improving its diplomatic relationships with the world and accomplished quality standards. This allows Portuguese passport holders to enjoy the world with a lot of open doors.
